Sanctification
"So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure." - Philippians 2:12-13

With the goal of Christlikeness, we are called to be continuously fighting  against the lusts of our hearts, destroying the unholy attitudes that do not honor God, and putting off ungodly actions.  However, we do not hope in ourselves.  Our hope is in God who is working in us to enable our ongoing, progressive sanctification.  We can be encouraged that God is personally transforming  us into the image of Christ as we endeavor to be more like Him!
